Finished vinyl tree!
We decided to put up the vinyl tree tonight and boy are we happy with how it turned out! At first I was thinking that it would look better without the orange flowers on it but Shaileen said we should do it. Good thing I trusted her because it looks so much better with the flowers. The chair next to it looks great too I think. Let us know what you think! We are so excited when we are chosen one day to be parents! A crib and changing table will look awesome in there!

Vinyl tree for bedroom
So today we had a great day! We woke up and got some laundry done! It has been quite a while since we have done any laundry. We decided we really just wanted to get out of the house so we drove out to south towne mall and went to a vinyl store because we have been looking for a tree to put on the wall. WE FOUND IT! It is prefect. The branches are black, why Shaileen calls the tear drops are gray, and the flower things are orange. It
Is awesome! Then we went to our favorite store. IKEA... We bought some little things cause we are wanting to refinish the upstairs bathroom soon hopefully. Blue tile just is not cutting it anymore :) so, if anyone knows someone that is good at tiling let us know! I need to start getting pictures huh? Lol! Thanks for reading our blog, we love it!

New chair for nursery
Today after the funeral we decided to stop at furniture warehouse because we have been searching all over for a chair for the nursery... Everyone that we find is about $500 at least over our budgeted amount and the chairs were just similar to what we have been looking for! But, today we walked in and the chair was staring at us! And it was less than the budgeted amount we had for it! We love it and not only is it any chair but it is the exact thing we have been looking for!

Finishing up painting
This past Tuesday we decided to paint the extra bedroom/nursery! It was nice to get it done cause it was looking nasty before! We also bought new blinds for both the nursery and our master bedroom! The old broken yellow blinds were just not cutting it anymore. The closet used to have some nasty wood shelves that we decided to take out but left the wood molding that was holding them up cause we thought it looked cool! We painted the wood bright white and thought it turned out pretty cool! We are thinking of leaving the closet doors off because of it!

Painting and The forgotten carols
Yesterday was our day off of work so we woke up early and painted the extra bedroom/nursery! It was nice to get that done because it was really needing it! It is gray with white trim! We decided to make it very neutral so we can cater it to either a boy or girl when it comes time! We just need to paint some extra wood pieces in the closet until we are finished! We are now looking for a vinyl tree for the wall that will go behind the crib when we get one! In the afternoon we were bored so we decided to go see Kimberly, dj and Alex cause she still has a couple more days off work! We had a blast as always, just cause we are that cool! Haha.. At around 6pm we met my parents, grandparents and Bret and Hilarie at Texas roadhouse for dinner before we went to the forgotten carols! Dinner was great as always and as you can see from the photo Shaileen's baked potato was the size of a baby elephant! The forgotten carols were absolutely amazing! It had been a long time since I had been so I had forgotten the story! It is so nice to go to the play because it puts back in perspective what is really important not only this time of the year but always! Of you have not seen this show I would certainly recommend it! There were many songs that made me think about Shaileen and me going through the adoption process and brought me to tears ( but if you know me you will find that it is easy to get me to cry). I appreciate my
Parents for inviting us because it is something that I personally needed in my life!
By the way, sorry for the lack of pictures today! I don't know what I was thinking :)

New computer desk!
We decided that we want to start getting our nursery ready and at least painted and looking better! This meant it was time to move our computer downstairs to the family room. The only problem is the other computer desk would not fit down the stairs to our basement. We were searching LDL for another computer desk and finally found one for an excellent price that we liked. We put I together last night and I went and purchased the cables that I needed and transferred the computer downstairs! We really like it! We should be painting probably within the next day or two so keep an eye out for pictures and a blog!

Painting Basement Bedrooms
The last couple of days we have been painting our basement. If you have ever been in our basement bedrooms you can attest that it certainly needed it. The photos below do not even do it justice! It feels so nice to have it done! Now we are just waiting on carpet that we will get in a week or two. This is one of steps that we wanted to complete so we are able to move our office into one of these rooms so when we are chosen for adoption we are ready with a room upstairs. We just wish we new if it was going to be a girl or boy so we could get a room completely ready. I guess that is half of the fun though, right? Let us know what you think... make sure to check out the timelapse I made below, not as cool as the last one but still fun.
The infamous yellow bedroom has been nothing but problems since we moved in so hopefully this will make it better. When I was refinishing our master bathroom last year I did not set the toilet good enough so the water leaked through the floor and down the walls in the basement. We had to replace a huge hole in the ceiling and repair some of the wall as well. I counted how many holes the previous owner had put in the walls that I had to repatch and it was a grand total of 120. How in the heck do you get 120 holes in one small bedroom? As you can see in the picture below we started priming the walls because of the horrid yellow paint and where there was the wall damage the sheet rock just started peeling off when you would paint over it so I had to run to the store to purchase some sheet rock putty but when I completed that it made it soooooo much better. Now that it is almost complete (when we get new carpet) I won't care if people go in that room. I may even show it off!
I am a very dirty painter so I wear the nastiest shirts I own... I classify a Boozer jersey as just that.
This is when the sheet rock started peeling off when i painted!
Yay just finished priming
FINISHED PRODUCT! (minus painting the baseboards :) )
This is a quick time lapse video of the other room that I painted as well! the color is the exact same as the other one but it looks completely different in the video for some reason!

Summer Craft Day
On Tuesday afternoon Shaileen got together with my family and had another craft day. They made a wood block set that said "summer". I think it turned out really great!

Art Project
We have been wanting to paint our own canvas photos for quite some time now. Shaileen went to the store with Kimberly and my Mom this morning and the canvas was finally on sale. Tristen and Nelson got off work early and they wanted to do some painting as well. I love how mine turned out as well as everyone else's. I have never been good at painting or drawing so I was extreme happy with the final product. Shaileen's was really cool too because she made his and hers canvas paintings. They are pretty much the exact same paintings but they one will go up above my side of the desk and hers will go on her craft side of the desk. Hope you enjoy!
New Art Piece
This afternoon we went to Ross to see if we could find any cool artwork and boy did we find one...we found this HUGE piece that you can see in the photos. It was so large that it would not fit on the car so we put it on top of the car and drove home just holding on to it like it was a mattress. We love it!

Refinishing Dresser
So, we were helping Shaileen's mom move the other day and they were going to take this old dresser to the DI but we told them that we would like it so we brought it home and decided that we wanted to take a chance and refinish it. This first picture is when we first got it in the garage and put the paint stripper on it. It took two coats of that paint stripper stuff and was kind of a pain in the butt.
Second, we used paint thinner to get the excesses crap off of it and then primed everything. I went out to start painting and i forgot to prime it and thankfully Shaileen stopped me after putting only a couple of paint stokes on. So, we used some more paint thinner and then reprimed over the top of it.
Here comes the first coat of paint. We ended up using a total of 3 coats just to be safe even though we probably could have got away with only using two but better safe than sorry.
