INDEPENDENCE DAY

INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

I love July 4th. It is easily my favorite holiday of the year. I love being able to spend time with the family. On the night of July 3rd we decided we better get out and put some chairs out to save our spot at the West Jordan Parade. We put the chairs out at about 11:30 pm. Tristen and Nelson were going to show up at our house really early in the morning to they just slept over at our house to avoid having to get up early and having to drive over again in a couple of hours. We showed up at the parade at about 7:30 and brought a card table so we could play some games to blow over the 3 hours that we had to wait for the parade to start. We chose the West Jordan Parade because Shaileen's dad's float from the church was in the parade. After going to the parade we went over to Shaileen's Grandpa's house and swam in their pool. It was a really fun to get out and get active. Almost everyone did a front flip and we had to get a photo of everyone doing it as well! :) It was a wonderful day and I just have to say that I am personally thankful for my freedom and I am PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN. (gotta sing it)

Davis Family Reunion

Since everybody in the Davis family was in town Scott and Cindy decided to put together a little family reunion. It was a bunch of fun. Scott rented a pavilion at Murray Park the whole day so everyone showed up from about 12-6. We had a big potluck and man it was delicious! We played some games such as Bocce Ball, Wa-shoes, big rubberband runny thing, basketball and more. It was nice to get together and spend some time with family.

Drew and Kjersti brought a whole bunch of water balloons so right after dinner a huge water fight erupted.

They even threw Emily a little baby shower since everyone was together.

Tomorrow morning (or i guess today since I'm updating this at 12:30 in the morning) we are going to the West Jordan parade. Tonight we went and put out chairs to save ourselves a spot. Post should be coming tomorrow for that as well.

Carlye's Baptism

On Saturday July 2nd 2011 Shaileen's little sister Carlye made the awesome decision to get baptized! She has been waiting for ever and was so excited. We are so happy for the decisions she is making and with her growing up so fast. One more step down for her to make it back to live with our Heavenly Father. She asked Shaileen to give a talk on Baptism and Shaileen did a great job. She prepared all week long. I think it was cool because she put the talk together as if she was speaking with Carlye directly. She made "road signs" of the things we should be doing to make it back to live with Heavenly Father again. Also, Shaileen was busy for a couple of days making Carlye's 8 year old birthday cake as well. It was shaped as the number 8. It was a white cake with a vanilla frosting on the top by Carlye's request. Carlye just said that all I want is a blue cake with colorful polka dots on the top! Again, we are so proud of Carlye and the choices that she is making.

Carlye's 8th Birthday

We celebrated Carlye's 8th birthday yesterday! She has been looking forward to turning 8 for a long time now because she gets to be baptized and get her ears pierced. Scott and Cindy also made dinner last night and it was great! Scott made ugly steaks that literally took up the full plate. I can tell you that Shaileen loves her sister very much and we had a lot of fun putting her present together. We got her a sign language book. She has been into learning more and more about it and we have her a small book with about 50 signs a couple of months ago and she had all of them memorized within a couple of days. This book has over 1000 signs if i remember right so it should keep her busy for a while. Shaileen also put together a little craft box together for her to but all of her craft stuff and Shaileen filled it all of the way full with fun stuff so she could start scrapbooking if she wants to. She also gave her a blank scrapbook so she can start out. We printed out some photographs of the family also and Shaileen made an awesome collage and put it in a frame! We love Carlye very much and are happy that she has turned 8. She is making some awesome choices to get baptized and confirmed this next Saturday! (of course you know there will be a blog about that)
