Painting Basement Bedrooms

The last couple of days we have been painting our basement. If you have ever been in our basement bedrooms you can attest that it certainly needed it. The photos below do not even do it justice! It feels so nice to have it done! Now we are just waiting on carpet that we will get in a week or two. This is one of steps that we wanted to complete so we are able to move our office into one of these rooms so when we are chosen for adoption we are ready with a room upstairs. We just wish we new if it was going to be a girl or boy so we could get a room completely ready. I guess that is half of the fun though, right? Let us know what you think... make sure to check out the timelapse I made below, not as cool as the last one but still fun.

The infamous yellow bedroom has been nothing but problems since we moved in so hopefully this will make it better. When I was refinishing our master bathroom last year I did not set the toilet good enough so the water leaked through the floor and down the walls in the basement. We had to replace a huge hole in the ceiling and repair some of the wall as well. I counted how many holes the previous owner had put in the walls that I had to repatch and it was a grand total of 120. How in the heck do you get 120 holes in one small bedroom? As you can see in the picture below we started priming the walls because of the horrid yellow paint and where there was the wall damage the sheet rock just started peeling off when you would paint over it so I had to run to the store to purchase some sheet rock putty but when I completed that it made it soooooo much better. Now that it is almost complete (when we get new carpet) I won't care if people go in that room. I may even show it off!

I am a very dirty painter so I wear the nastiest shirts I own... I classify a Boozer jersey as just that.

This is when the sheet rock started peeling off when i painted!

Yay just finished priming

FINISHED PRODUCT! (minus painting the baseboards :) )

This is a quick time lapse video of the other room that I painted as well! the color is the exact same as the other one but it looks completely different in the video for some reason!

It was our monthly Cline Family dinner! Shaileen was in charge of the camera so we could get a different perspective. We had a ton of fun and as always had some delicious food! Janica made some shredded chicken sandwiches. We always look forward to the 4th Sunday to be able to get together with my side of the family!

BYU VS UCF

Last nights BYU game was much more fun! It was BYU vs UCF and BYU pullled it out 27-17. I was quite scared going into that game because UCF is a very good football team. We love going to the games! GO COUGARS!!!!

BYU COUGARS HOME OPENER 2011

It was finally time for some home field football. As you may not already know we are huge BYU fans. We arrived down in Provo right about 4pm and did some tailgating with Shaileen's side of the family. It was delicious. They made some BBQ chicken, potatoes with bacon and other stuff inside, fruit of all kinds, rolls, desert and even more. After tailgating we went to the stadium pretty early to go to the BYU store. I got a new BYU hat (one that actually fits for once) and BYU tie, and Shaileen got a new gameday shirt and earrings. When the team came out for the game they put off fireworks which was the first time I ever remember the team doing it. We had a really fun time even though the game did not end up even close to what we wanted. We are still huge fans and will be to all of the games! GO COUGARS! (check out the video posted below)

Adoption: Personal Interviews

This past Monday Shaileen and I took a couple hours off of work to go and have our personal interviews to finish one more step to be qualified for adoption. I was a little bit apprehensive to go in because as you may know I am not a talker and don't like to talk (especially about myself). Going in we were told to expect about an hour interview for each of us. Shaileen went in first and I sat in the foyer and took a nice nap! About an hour later she walked out and it was my turn to go in! The interview was not bad at all it was just a bunch of questions to ensure we are fit to adopt! You know I am not a big talker because I was in there for barely over 20 minutes. I like to get to the point and Shaileen likes to elaborate! We were really excited because we found that we are going to be fully approved probably about 1-2 months earlier than we expected. We still have to do our home study where our caseworker come to our home and makes sure we are fit to have a kid. We went and purchased a fire extinguisher and some more co detectors because they are required. We went home to check our smoke alarm and it was out of batteries so that is next on the list! We are so excited to be getting to the end of this process because it has been a long time coming and we want to be available for birth parents to be looking for us! We would appreciate all of our friends, family, or anyone reading this to keep us in your prayers during this process because we certainly need this! Also, as we always say keep us in our minds as people may bring up the possibility of adoption and please do not hesitate to bring up our names! When our application process is complete we are going to be making pass-a-long cards which are kind if like business cards that we can hand out! We love you and appreciate everyone!

Utah State Fair 2011

Its that time of year again! Both Shaileen and I absolutely love the Utah State Fair. We look forward to going each and every year. I didn't take too many photos but here are a few!

Carlye wanted to have a snowcone real bad!

GRRRRRRR.....

Carlye showing off her blue teeth

Carlye wanted to go on another ride but I talked her into going on the gravitron. She was scared getting on but as soon as the ride started she loved it! The gravitron is probably my most favorite ride ever! You just get in and stand against the wall. Then it starts spinning so fast that you stick to the wall and pretty much float. It is one of the coolest feelings ever! One of my favorite things to do at the fair is to see the photography section which is upstairs at the grandstand. This year I did not enter in any of my work because I kinda forgot but the photography that was there was really cool! I am thankful for the opportunity that we have to get out and have fun and not just have to sit in our house all of the time!

Quarter Trick on Carlye

Carlye slept over and she was begging to do a prank on Tristen so we decided that we would backfire on her and do the quarter trick! It didnt work as well as we wanted it to but we did it anyways...

Dew Tour Madness

Nelson had scored some media passes to the Dew Tour so i went and shot some photos all weekend long. It was the first time I was able to shoot anything like this and I had a blast. Probably the most fun shooting that I have ever had because I had professional equipment and was shooting professionals. We were able to talk to a lot of the athletes and meet them. The only problem is most of the athletes we hung out with were from Brazil so I stood around looking kind of dumb as Nelson and his other friend were speaking Portuguese with them. All in all it was way fun. Hopefully we will be able to score some media passes to the winter Dew Tour.

Here are just a few of the over 1000 photos that I took this weekend!

United Way Day of Caring

We were excited because yesterday was the United Way Day of Caring. We have gone for the last 2 years with our company and have loved it. The day starts our early in the morning at the Gateway where they have the "kick-off" where they provide breakfast and a killer band that is singing some soul music. At about 8:30 we started to drive to the Utah Food bank that is located approximately on 3150 S 900 W. It was fun because we were in charge of filling mobile boxes. The mobile boxes are for elderly people that are not able to go pick up their boxes on their own so people deliver it to them once per month. We are thinking of "adopting" a couple of grandmas where we would deliver food once a month to them. We are just trying to find out where to sign up for it. We both love volunteering, it is one of our most favorite things to do. We were told that the Heart walk is coming up shortly and will be doing that one as well :)
